Denise Sproul, a Portland, Oregon resident has had an interest and love for animals her whole life.  She currently owns 5 beagles that are an integral part of her family. She has shown beagles in AKC conformation, obedience, tracking and agility earning over 20 titles; 2 champion titles.  In 2003 Giani, her first beagle and the dog responsible for her rescue work, was the only beagle in the country to earn the Tracking Dog – Excellent title.  In fact, Giani, a victim of severe abuse, now holds 14 titles. Denise is a current member of the National Beagle Club of America. It was a natural inclination for her to get involved in animal rescue work!

Animal Rescue Association of America
Denise is co-founder and Executive Director of Animal Rescue Association of America. From her work in beagle rescue, it became apparent that there was no coalition of resources for animal rescue organzations. There was no national organization to which one could turn for advice, assistance or recognition for the hard work involved with animal rescue. There was also a great need for quality and a method to authenticate legitimate rescue organizations. She discovered there were tens of thousands of rescue organizations and through the guidance and help of Philip Sandstrom, our current President, the Animal Rescue Association of America was formed.

Cascade Beagle Rescue, 2005 – Present

• Co-founder & President.
• Started in Portland, Oregon; opened east coast chapter in NJ in 2006. 
• Serving 14 US states.
• 501(c)(3) public charity.

Columbia-Willamette Beagle Club, 1999 - 2005

• Rescue Coordinator – Formed and organized beagle rescue program.
• Served as board member, treasurer & secretary over the years.
• Produced newsletter.
• Chaired dog shows; including National Beagle Club Tracking test and National Beagle Club Agility Trial.

Denise has owned and operated a commercial property management business since 1989 and also co-owns a commercial embroidery business.
